The strongest safety net we have is each other. FloatMeThrough is a way to directly connect people who need a few dollars to get by to people who can spare a little cash to help.

The coronavirus pandemic has hit a lot of our neighbors really hard financially. If you live in Illinois and need a little cash to get by or want to give directly to a person with a need, Float Me Through can help.
You can either anonymously request a cash gift or volunteer to help someone out in your area by sending money directly via Venmo.
Float Me Through is just a matching service. Float Me Through isn’t a charity or a loan program. We don’t take a fee, we don’t handle the money, and there are no strings attached. We’re just connecting people who need help with people who want to help.
How it works:
“I need a little help.”
Provide your email, your Venmo, and how much money you need to float you through.
“I want to help somebody out!”
Provide your email address and how much money you want to give as a gift.
A match is made.
Float Me Through searches the database and matches a need with giver. An automated email is sent to the giver with the Venmo account of the person requesting assistance.
Cash gift gets sent!
The giver sends the requested cash gift via their own Venmo account.
A few things to note.
- While we certainly hope needs will be met, we do not (because we cannot) promise that your need will be met. That is out of our control. But, what we are doing is creating a space where people who want to give can find people with a need.
- It may take a few days to get a match. We honestly don’t know how many people will volunteer to give or how many needs there will be.
- If you’re using this – giving or requesting – you need a Venmo account.
